Virginia
spent many years living and painting in Toronto. Her main focus was
watercolour, developing a detailed, realistic style while stressing
strong composition and contrast. She joined many area art groups,
including the Toronto Watercolour Society (TWS signature member), the
Willowdale Group of Artists, and is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and the
Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.
Her
focus has shifted somewhat as of late, after moving to the Hills of
Caledon, north of Toronto, in late 2002. The disappearing landscape has
become a recurring theme, painted in oil or acrylic on canvas which is a return to
the roots of her painting. These landscapes are done in a more
impressionistic style than her watercolours. She will continue to paint
in both mediums, and hopes her experimentation in each will benefit the
other. Paintings
in oil, watercolour and acrylic can be found in collections throughout
North America and Europe. She
has had work published in the International Artist Magazine and in the hardcover watercolour book, "Splash 8". She has been fortunate to have won many awards
for her work and continues to enjoy the development of her art through
her group associations.
